An expert operational practitioner, accredited mentor and full time trainer using the experience built up over a successful career dealing with complex and serious criminal enquiries in a training and development environment. Skilled at articulating knowledge and using acquired professional judgement to contribute to the objectives of the employing organisation by guiding and advising less experienced colleagues.

Pat was appointed CID trainer for Tower Hamlets in 2004, responsible for training all new and existing staff in Criminal Investigation skills. This included responsibility for training 50 new investigators. Pat devised and delivered a one week training programme which encompassed all the necessary skills and techniques required by an investigator in the 21st century.

Pat also delivered training in the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act, 1999. The course, "Achieving Best Evidence", is delivered to mixed groups of police officers and social workers, thereby improving collaboration between partner agencies.

As a trainer, Pat Introduced innovative techniques such as workplace tutorials, designed to ensure that knowledge and understanding were internalised by students, thus increasing professional confidence and ambition, and ensuring consistent high standards were maintained. Additionally, Pat identified that the quality of statement taking and the presentation of evidence at court were consistently poor, and developed training to address this shortcoming.

Pat is an accredited trainder for and on bahalf of the Specialist Crime Academy, New Scotland Yard,

Pat's wealth of experience as an investigator is integral to his success as a trainer. He has successfully managed many serious criminal investigations. One complex arson investigation resulted in a ‘guilty’ plea and a letter of appreciation from the victims stating that "through Mr Connors' efforts our belief in the Police and the Legal system has been restored." Another case involved the attempted murder of an 89 year lady, whose injuries were so severe it was not possible to obtain a statement. This was a complex case with no DNA at the scene, but Pat identified the suspect who was found guilty at Court. He received a commendation from the trial judge.

Pat is a fully trained financial investigator with substantial experience. He has a BTEC Professional Diploma in Financial Investigation from EdExcel. His strong background in drugs investigations has led to several Court successes in interpreting the crude accounting systems used by drug dealers, thus leading to significant asset seizures.

Noted as a strong and professional leader, trainer and detective, Pat was recently described as "one of the strongest detectives, and maintains this role throughout everything he takes on. He is a role model for the younger, less experienced staff and is most at ease when assisting or teaching others. He is a pleasure to work with and will enrich the skills and experience of the Major Investigation Team."
