
A five day course designed to enable a broad range of investigators
to obtain statements by means of a video tape recording in accordance
with the
Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999.
The Act states that victims or witnesses in following categories should/must have statements taken by means of video:
- Child witnesses
- Witnesses or victims who have been intimidated or are in fear
- Those with learning or physical disabilities
- Victims of sexual assault
The course is intended for police officers, social workers,
legal professionals, health workers and others.
Students will receive Home Office manuals and a certificate of competence.
Because of the statutory requirement to protect vulnerable victims and
witnesses, this is a pass/fail course. Individual reports will be
written for students’ line managers.
